About Donna

Are you ready for a change?  I'm here to help you.  I have worked with people from all backgrounds and concerns.  My specialties are managing stress, trauma recovery/healing, and grief and loss/bereavement. I also have worked with those feeling stuck, coping with depression and anxiety, and effective communication.

I provide therapy for adults and teens in Los Angeles (Mar Vista) and surrounding areas - Play Vista, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Palms and so much more.

I have provided therapy since 2002 and licensed in 2008.  My experience is diverse and I have worked with children in the past, and individuals with life threatening illnesses.  As a graduate of Phillips Graduate University (formally Institute).

My approach is culturally centered. Your culture/religion/belief systems are respected and considered my approach.  I consider your ethnic customs and religious/spiritual beliefs in our work.  I believe diversity and differences are of value and I want to be sure to respect your culture and religion in our work.

I also utilizes an interactive, solution-focused approach. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I help you identify your strengths and attain the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing.  The theoretical approach I rely on is Positive Psychology which is similar a cognitive behavioral approach with mindfulness and acceptance. In practice, I customize my approach to fit your needs. Some approaches include imagery, body work/breathing relaxation exercises, journaling, and solution focused therapy.  Sometimes we have to find the root of the problem to heal and move on because those roots sometimes serve as anchors to the past and may limiting your ability to move forward.

Among my areas of expertise working with issues of grief and loss, trauma recovery, stress management, and effective communication skills. I'm also an adjunct faculty member at CSUs primarily at Dominguez HIlls , Long Beach City College and LA Southwest College .  I teach as many as 17 subjects but best known for teaching The Experience of Death and Dying and Psychology of Gender.
